In the Tangoo region of Myanmar, elephants are used for the logging of precious woods. The Mahouts go and get the elephants in the forest in the morning. Myanmar. 2016/1/11

村に行く途中で食べ物を与えられる象たち

Before going to work the Mahouts wash the elephants by the river. Myanmar. 

象使いが出発まえに象の体を洗う。

Elephants always have chains on their feet so that the Mahouts can find them in the forest. Myanmar

象の足には鎖がつけてあるので、象使いは森の中で象を容易に見つけることができる。

After spending the night in the forest, the elephants are brought to the village to prepare themselves for skidding. Myanmar

森の中で夜を過ごした後、象たちは村に連れて行かれ、作業のための準備をする。

Every day during the dry season, elephans are used to transport precious woods. Myanmar.

乾季は貴重な木を運ぶために象が毎日働かされる。

The mahout sets off his elephant in front of his house before taking the road to fetch the precious woods. Myanmar

象を連れて森に入る前、準備をする象使い。

The workplace is more than an hour from the village. The journey takes place on the back of the elephants. Myanmar.

The iron tree trunk is very heavy and the elephant runs out. It helps by placing the trunk on the ground by deploying many efforts. Myanmar 

疲れ果てた象。木はとても重い。

The loads are very heavy and when the elephant is in trouble the mahout hits him with a whip. Myanmar

積み荷はとても重く、象が思い通りに動かない時、象使いは象をむちで打つ。

A mahout does not hesitate to strike his elephant with the back of an ax to advance it. Sometimes elephants die of exhaustion under severe blows. Myanmar

象使いは象をおのの柄で殴ることに躊躇しない。あまりにひどく殴られ死んでしまう象もいるという。

After many efforts, the elephant finally arrives on the way. Myanmar

苦労の末やっと帰路につく象。

Elephants work half a day on longshoring. They then return to the village before returning to the forest to feed and rest. Myanmar

象は一日の半分を木や積み荷を運ぶ仕事をする。村に戻った後、象は森に帰り食事や休息にありつける。

Tree trunks are transported by forest trails to the loading center where trucks will pick them up. Myanmar
